Baytex Energy Completes $2.14 Billion Eagle Ford Asset Sale

Baytex Energy Corp. (TSX:BTE) has finalized the sale of its U.S. Eagle Ford assets for net proceeds of $2.14 billion USD. The transaction, valued at approximately $2.96 billion CAD, strengthens financial flexibility and allows for a strategic focus on its Canadian energy platform.

The company plans to utilize the proceeds to eliminate debt and improve liquidity. This strategy includes the following actions:

  • Redemption of 8.50% Senior Notes due 2030
  • Cash tender offer for $575 million USD of 7.37% Senior Notes due 2032
  • Repayment of outstanding credit facilities

Baytex has transitioned to a net cash position following the deal. Management intends to resume share purchases under its normal course issuer bid, reflecting confidence in the company's financial health.
